Easter Island, Chile

My holidays were a little confused. White Christmas?

More like white sand beach! On Easter Island!

Easter Island, or Rapa Nui in the local language, is a remote little tropical island well off the coast of Chile.

The place is mostly famous for its giant stone heads, called Moai.

Moai, how nice to meet you!

The landscape was stunning, and despite being only 12 miles in diameter, the island had a number of hidden gems to discover.

You just had to know how to get around in style!

There were flooded, dormant volcano craters.

And some spectacular cliff views.

I met some of the local wildlife.

And some of their ancestors.

Being such a island, there was no pier for us to dock at. So we anchored off shore and had a water taxi take us back and forth almost every hour!

Being such a small island, it was so rich in beauty and culture, and it really was a shame that we had only a couple of days there.

So long Rapa Nui, and maybe we’ll meet again in the future!
