If there is one thing about Charleston that has not ceased to amaze me since my arrival, it’s the food.
Yes, I was super excited to finally be able to cook for myself, but ended up eating out most of the time because the list of places recommended to me was never ending.
One area with a conglomeration of places to try is Shem Creek. I can’t say I’ve tasted everything there (yet), but there is definitely something for everyone from the partying rooftop bars packed with collage students to considerably more upscale lounges and seafood restaurants.
But there is one thing they all have in common: the themes are positively nautical.
Though it probably helps when you’re located on the waterfront.
Right next to the cluster of eateries and row of manicured mansions is little ol’ Shem Creek Park.
Hardly more than a boardwalk extending out into the marsh, it does provide an opportunity to stretch your legs after a hefty meal and enjoy the scenery.
And the local wildlife!
